Simple Church Easter Decor

Coming up with simple (affordable) decorations

for church Easter decor is quite a challenge!

I ran across this image on a google search

and an idea was brewing!

But, we needed 40 or so and that was overwhelming!

And then having the Sunday school kids help make them

seemed perfect.  I began dyeing toothpicks with food coloring

and ordered the small grapevine wreaths.

We did a neat lesson on the crown of thorns during Sunday school

and Dryce helped me corral the kids while making the wreaths.

They enjoyed making the wreaths and then could in turn tell their families

about them during breakfast.

And we ended with some leftover toothpicks that turned into silly plate projects.

We used purple napkins as they seemed better for our round tables

and some candles left from a wedding!

Simple  Church Easter Decor

Easter Breakfast Committee

We were honored to serve on the Easter Breakfast Committee

at church this year.  We were elected to head the committee. 

And that seemed a bit of a stretch for this non cooking lady,

but God knows just who to place on this committee along side us!

We planned and prepped and prayed a bit over the eggs not turning green!

And I didn't' get many pics because well, feeding nearly 300.

We had 300 biscuits, 10 gallons of gravy, 70 lbs of grilled sausage

and 30 dozen eggs.  And as I type that I realized just how

blessed we are!  

God placed this verse for many I am sure this day,

but it surely spoke to me!  

Borrowed this backdrop to have a spot to take Easter pics.

It was well used, but none of our dear family

as we were cooking and serving.

I'll have to brag a bit on the boys as they helped 

to set up Saturday, arrived with us at 545 am to set up and prepare

and then helped to tear down.  We heard little complaint!

Specifically, Joe was grouchy (with me) while he was serving sausages to the church members

and I wasn't sure why - later he told me he was so hungry and was watching everyone walk away with his favorite, haha!

Time for a quick pick - 4 large skillet  of scrambled eggs in the making!

I'm telling you these folks knew how to cook!

They were a big hit.

And church members brought in cakes and fruit.

We love Easter breakfast at our church.

Such a fun tradition!

My over all prayer for Easter breakfast was for it to be just normal.

Not extraordinary.

Not overly memorable

Good and delicious, of course - 

but, free of anything that would distract

from the true meaning of Easter.

I believe our prayers were answered, indeed!  

Junior High Golf

Sam has a few golf matches under his belt this season.

He has made improvements since last year and is getting mentioned by his coach this season.

He generally scores 3rd-5th on his team and is doing great.

Best part of golf is the beautiful evenings on the course! 

 Well, that is if it's a beautiful evening - a few last year were pretty crummy.

We've been a little luckier this season, so far!

It's a game where the player can only get advice from the coach. Parents aren't allowed to give advice, scores, etc.

It is acceptable to say a drive or putt were good but that is it!

Golf is also mentally tough so keeping the kids upbeat is a important.

We got to see Sam play this course last year and he improved TREMENDOUSLY 

since his previous outing here.

His team beat Orleans and Paoli here.

Thankful for a great and encouraging coach, Mr. Walton.

Sam also enjoys his art class.

The team is 5-1 on the season now!
