North West Adventure || Orcas Island Ferry

Monday morning (Day 4) of our adventures throughout the Northwest had us
heading to the highlight of the trip - Orcas Island!
We had already seen so much that I couldn't imagine it topping it,
but  Orcas did not disappoint!

Mark, Dan, Kai and Joe took the boat to Orcas, fishing on the route and planned to meet us there.
Nicole, Isa, Sam and I took the ferry ride over.

This left us with a morning for just these two.

They have an undeniable connection.
They are comfortable with each other, but are both guarded in most other situations.
They pick up right where they left off, and make each other smile so genuinely.
They still don't talk much, but seem to be able to answer for each other.
Thankful for a front seat to foster this connection for Sam and Isa.
Adoption is a miraculous thing to behold.

My goodness I love this teen of mine.
Bless his heart, he gets to learn this parenting a teen thing with me.
He challenges me, amazes me, keeps me guessing, but most
of all he gives good grace when I mess things up!

We arrived at the ferry early and had time to take in the sights.
The home dotted along the coastline here were stunning.
Mount Baker was visible, it was a sunny breezy day.

Grateful for this connection - this whole family is special to us.
We love Miss Isa and Nicole like our own.

Is a could dig for hours finding live crabs. She knew so many facts about them.
The ferry dock in the back ground is waiting for the ferry to come in!

This was a large ferry terminal with access routes to the main Anacortes Island area!

On the ferry, we stopped at Lopez Island on our way over.
The stops are quick, better be ready to get on or off!

This one was a single lane, walkers to the right - the one we boarded on had 15 lanes
and an overhead bridge for walk ons!

A view of our spot on the ferry.

We headed upstairs to have a packed lunch.
It sure was full of good scenery.

And as we headed back to our vehicle to drive off the ferry, we spotted this brave soul.
He was parked on the edge of the ferry and rode right here, door open the whole trip!  Eeks.
You know what this site means?!?! Island Time!  I loved it from first sight.
So VERY quaint.  Perfection.
