Christmas Break Part II Cold Snap

This boys loves his home.
He loves the fireplace too.

More snipits of our break included a game of take the superhero off the pyramid.
Very popular game, played for 2 days.  Grandpa was downstairs working on basement and he
could not figure out what all the racket was, ha!

Chelsa...do you still have time to read blogs with that sweet family of yours?
I bid and won the sign in the background from a silent auction.  When I found out you made it I was on a mission!!!

Our structures became elaborate, our clothing was pretty casual though,
I washed a lot of jammies this break, not much else!

Much of Indiana was under a severe winter storm warning
Sunday night brought a layer of ice and a little snow
so school has been cancelled all week.
Today is Thursday and they finally went back with a delay.
Our bay window had ice on the inside, yikes.
I made it to work all week with DH help on Monday,
but the drive thru was frozen shut
and then the front door stripped a gear because it was frozen.

It was BITTER cold. We were so fortunate to
stay warm, have no water issues, minimal travel issues!

We closed early on Monday so we baked some muffins
for DH and grandpa

And my ever taping something together boy (thanks Aunt Shannon for the green scotch tape)
made himself a homemade race track, complete with cereal bar box obstacles, love it

The boys were ready for school again today, especially after their extended break.
We are needing a routine once again around here!

Happy New Year 2014

We had a fun New Year's Eve with some friends and their kiddos!
We enjoyed dinner out at Gasthof, boys love it for ice cream and cookies!
We knew it was a place we could get in with our group without a wait!
We came back home and just hung out for the evening,
did some sand art.

We go to church with Greg and Lela and were youth sponsors with them so
we always have much to talk about.
We made it up to midnight for the first time in a few years, LOL.

All the boys kept saying was, I thought we were going to see a ball drop.
I think it was a little anti climatic for them, ha!

Christmas Break Part 1

Christmas Break was just what these boys needed!
We practiced our artist skills.
Sam was thrilled with this artist set that we got him for his birthday.
He has been creating away.

Joe and I got out one of our drawing books and he made this tiger.
He was better than mine, so I will just show you that, lol

And we had some baby visitors, Anniston was really happy even though it doesn't look like it here

And even though I didn't take this photo, it is appropriate cause there was some TV watching, ha

And much progress on the basement!!! Yeah.  I learned how to run the saw, excellent stress releaser!!

And there may or may not have been a day where they boys wore jammies all day
and played with old familiar toys. Love that

This day was superhero vs dinosaurs.
