Fall Break 18

Fall break was spent around home this year.
The boys had a week away from school, but mom and dad were not quite so lucky.
We still caught a few special moments during the week.

There are a fewer moments when we catch them playing
but I cherish when we do.
Their imaginations soar and their bond grows stronger.
Memories like this are irreplaceable for me because by
next fall break we might not capture this moment.

This guy was in full fall break mode.

On Monday, the boys and I enjoyed a great lunch together
at Applebee's before Sam had dental surgery.
DH does not like Applebees - he says it is freezer food that they
heat up (haha, no shortage of opinions from him) but we
were still trying to make him miss us while he farmed.

Sam had dental surgery done to remove some extra teeth he
had in the top of his mouth.  We prepared as much as possible,
and we were never so thankful when it was over.
The tears that dropped off Sam's face during the procedure
were gut-wrenching for mama.
But, as soon as we left the office he was much better
and I admired how well he recovered.

He even braved it alone for 15 minutes while I ran over to CoOp to
take the farmer a drink.

Graber Hill has a new semi this year, I'm planning to
get me a ride this winter!

This guy painted a spooky Halloween house.
He needed zero help from mom. Tears.

Joe also made us a personalized Jenga game.
Love!

As the week moved on and Grandma took her turn nursing
Sam back to health, we found some time for chess.

And mini golf

And a little bowling in Batman socks

Hickory Nut Guy

We had an excellent year for our hickory nuts this year.
Joe enjoys picking them up and sharing them.
We crack a few and grandma and grandpa's,
and he finally tried them this year - HE LIKES THEM!
This evening he picked up 6 gallon buckets full.
He shares them with Pastor/Uncle Ed.

He set up was unique - wasn't sure why he had the cooler
and the wheelbarrow....he quickly cleared this up...
it was to keep the squirrels out while he picked them up!

We had a very warm fall.
Until it turned cold and wet a few days ago,
we think it is going right to winter this year.
We snuck in some fun on the days that were nice!

We all joined him after Sam came home from
basketball.

Cracking nuts Sunday after lunch at Grandma's, she is collecting enough
to make a Hickory Nut Pie(Pecan-like) - Yum!

They look like a mini walnut, taste like a pecan.

Warm Fall Days

These two sweeties were with us until preschool one morning,
it just so happened the boys had a delay for fog so we had some playtime.

One of our favorites, MiP

Reading this book currently.
I've resonated with a couple of the chapters - one called mental load
that talks about the minds of working mama's all that we balance.

But, I wouldn't trade that metal load for missing all of this!
The everyday moments are my favorite. I love the picturesque moments, too
but my crew doesn't love to pose for pics so often times those aren't the happiest, ha!

Sent this to dad in the combine, he had to wash his golf clubs for a meet the next night.
All the heart eyes. He's enjoyed his fall golf meets at Country Oakes.  He had a course
best on their last night of 41.  Love watching him develop for this mental game.

Those harvest sunsets off of 1250 E.

Fall makes me think of soups.  The weather has not been fall but the sunsets make me want all the fall things! I made his Aunt Ann's chicken chowder.
Delicious.

He came home with a 5lb bag of gummies from a fundraiser - he won it as a prize.
He was in heaven (even though he SHOULD not eat them with braces, ha)

Pioneer woman, ha!  I don't even cook that often but I guess I trying to lure my farmer home.

Sam's snapchat, from the son who says HE WON'T BE A FARMER.
You can take the farmer off the farm, but....

I added weedeating to my list of things I can now do!
Yes!  Look out now...

It's a rare day that the field behind has been harvest of corn
and the pool still looks inviting! It was been unseasonably warm.
First day of fall break today and it is 85!

Insert Heart Emojis for Soccer

The soccer season continues and so does this kid's passion to play.
I like soccer.
It has a relaxed vibe.
The parents laugh and enjoy the sport more than others in this area.
I'm gonna strive to enjoy them all like I enjoy soccer,
just watching my boy do his thing!
