Snacky Carrots!

Joe had Discovery Club snacks Wednesday night
and he LOVES cheese puffs - who doesn't?
We made some simple carrots since our assigned time
came around Easter!

Snack time is fast and furious but they were a great hit!

Family Sunday Night

I treasure a houseful.
We were missing a couple but had fun with those that could come
and fill our home - my favorite!

We gathered for an impromptu Sunday night taco bar.
For someone so very tiny, he sure takes up a lot of attention.
He was in a very sweet mood and shared lots of smiles.

Graham has stolen all of our hearts including "Aunt" Taylor's.

That smile!

And Nana rocking her babe in Grandma Linda's rocking chair.

And entertainment provided my Joe and FarmLand.
Fun times, laughs and great memories.

We played FarmLand

This kid is a dreamer and doer  - is that word?
It describes Joe.
He has been working on creating board game
and Sunday afternoon he worked hard on getting it ready
for some gracious family members to try it out on Sunday night.
We talked out the design of the board and the what the numbers on the dice
would mean and the trivia questions would be - the danger path
and safe path.
Look at his logo he thought up- how stinking cute is that?

The planning stages and 'rule book'

And finally playing FarmLand with family.  Certainly a TON of laughs and gracious players
who kinda rolled with the rule changes and gave great feedback.
Uncle Scott was simply hilarious when moving his horse - the players must make their animal noise when passing other players...and he also gave Joe a hard time when the rules were bent a bit.

He's got some additions/changes to work on and board design but
I am very proud of him coming up with a concept and following it thru.
Love!

4th graders

Joe's friend Evan came over after school last week.
He would have a friend every.single.day if he was allowed.
He is certainly a social man, ha!
And they were outside for 30 seconds when I caught them  without coats...

They were sent back in and gathered coats,
these two love basketball

They love it so much that it continued once they were back inside.

And I realized as they played inside how much this would warm my mama's heart.
Evan is the grandson of my mom's best friend, Roberta.
My mom and her friend Roberta talked on the telephone every morning.
They went to grade school and high school, married and each had 3 kids just a few
streets apart in Loogootee.  I think Roberta misses my mom as much the family does!

I baked some cookies (the break and bake easy way, ha) and let the boys
decorate them

Fun after school day for these 4th graders.

Ups and Downs in a Week!

I had the honor of taking Joe on a lunch date last week.
I got a extra special glimpse of my guy this day.
He is creating a board game
and
he wants my help.
We talked about the theme and the design
and the rules and boy does this boy have an imagination
and great ideas.
And mama had a coupon for a free dessert so we packed it to go
for a couple bites before heading back into school (and then a great
after school snack).

We stopped to get our Graham fix after school that day.
These boys LOVE their Graham.
They fight over him and argue over who Graham likes more!

Look at that smile on Sam's face.

We had fun watching Graham in his bumbo seat!

And that night we headed to the first sectional game
for to cheer on our favorite high school team.
The cheerblock theme was USA -
the Lion Loud Crowd did not disappoint
and our Lions beat the Rivet Patriots.

We spent a great Saturday together in Evansville as a family.
DH found a small par 3 course to hit a few shots with Sam.
They let Sam play for free so they played a round of golf for $10.
It was the first glimpse of spring and that is oh so welcome!
Joe and I did some shopping for his game supplies at Joann's
and shoes for mom at Shoe Carnival. We had lunch
and made a trip around Sam's club for some staples for home!

And that night we headed back to Jack Butcher Arena
to cheer on the Lions against our rival Barr_Reeve.
What an awesome environment - the gym near capacity
for the local rivals to face off.
The boys from both sides played their tails off
and the atmosphere did not disappoint.
But, alas, our team did not win.  Loosing in last minute fashion
as seems to be the draw in Hoosier Basketball - it came down to the last seconds!

This was during half time and the kids had their phones out swaying like they were at a concert.
Love love love their clean fun and school spirit!
Our J is right in the middle with her freshmen friends!

We turned our attention to the promise of spring
and the baseball games to come!

And on Monday night we enjoyed a 6th grade band concert.
I truly enjoy listening to the group improve - and it is astouding
to hear the difference from the first concert.
They know 8 notes and can now play them in 1/8 time
and they played some recognizable  songs.
Sam is the only Tenor Sax player and he really enjoys it.
It has taught him responsibility in remembering his instrument
and confidence in learning a new skill.
Plus, everyone needs to appreciate how music comes together!

Our newphew Drew also plays in band - on the right playing trumpet.

Math Bowl 2018

These Mathletes worked pretty hard for their Math Bowl
Competition this spring.
Their teams both represented very well and placed 1st in their division!

Sam was a team captain and up 1st, they scored well!

Joe was also a captain and competed in the round after Sam.

Loogootee Elementary receiving their ribbons!

 Loogootee Middle receiving their ribbons
And I was able to steal a couple pics from the school social media account.
Love this one.

And this one.

The boys enjoy the academic competitions
and we certainly encourage this!
Proud of their involvement and all that they learn from these events.
