Beans at Dawn

Earlier in the Holiday World Day,

 I had taken a semi ride to Evansville

to take beans to market.

Earlier, like, on the road at 5 am earlier.

    

It works like this... no appointments, so you want to be first in line so you can unload early.

But, if you are first in line you are there 1-2 hours before they open...so you wait.

OR

You can go after they open and wait 2 hours in line to unload.

When you are a small operation, getting up early is key so you can unload then be back home

to farm when the crops dry out for the day.

We were second in line.  When the office lights come on, it's time to roll the tarp open.

It'll be about 30 minutes. 

And as we headed in it  finally daylight and there were 2 rows of trucks formed behind us.  

Our beans from dump station 2 were headed straight out the conveyer to the barge on 

the river.

We had to wash our wheels as we left the lot, we aren't in the country any more...

Blake called and said she would like to borrow

Shannon's tub again, I knew we were in for a fun surprise.

Oh.my.goodness.  

It was the best time.  

Most of the pics are on Blake's phone.

We intended to get pictures of Quinn for sure.

Graham wanted in on the action

and Noah was such a good sport helping us

that we were able to add Theo as well.

We took some with these flowers too, so many fun memories.  

My goodess, these little pumpkins are pure sugar.

Graber Hill Harvest 2020

We spent a Saturday afternoon at the farm.

Shannon's sunflowers were beautiful for our visit!

And they were farming right across the road at the Cropp (now Graber) place.  

Joe and Tyson helped Grandpa get the dryer ready.

The windmill is always a staple around the farm.

It makes a distinct charming sound as the wind takes it around that can only

be found at Graber Hill. 

The old M had a big job this year.

It was powered up to run the auger into the grain bin.

Combine in the field to Auger wagon then Auger wagon back to the farm

to the grain cart then open the grain cart door and auger up into the bin....pfew.

Grandpa was proud of that ol M working hard - it was Grandpa Great's first tractor.

Joe and I spent some time cleaning up the tractor.

I could tell he had done it before, he was telling me what to do next!

My farmer and my boy are in that cab.

And I had to get a ride this fall.  I haven't missed a planting ride or harvest ride, yet!

It's like a mini date.

And unloading on the go is fun (and nerve wracking) to watch!
