Harvesting Beans

DH has been absent a lot of evenings -farming.
He would love to farm full time, if circumstances would let him...
We joined him tonight, and I can see the appeal.
There really is something about working the land.
Pretty sure I could not be a farmer, my nose is running to prove that fact.
This land has been in the family for many years.
It will remain that way {if God continues to bless us}

The boys rode the combine with papaw.
I rode the new JD tractor with DH.
They both have buddy seats -
a step up from the ride I got in years past.

And if you think farming is tidy or just a little dirty.
Think again.

A little plug for DH's workplace.
Just to think, a year ago this farm was almost all red...
that's farming talk for International not John Deere.

And if you thought that you could just jump in
and operate one of these pieces of farm equipment...
Think again.

And the combine has even more buttons.
Harvesting beans moves much slower than harvesting corn.
It was nice to take the boys tonight, things move much slower.
Beans harvest at about 1/4 the rate of corn (in bushels)
so there is much less time spent unloading.
Now, unloading that is fun.
Unloading on the go is how the Graber's do it.
The tractor and wagon pull up beside the combine in a part of the field already harvested.
The combine's auger moves the crop into the wagon behind the tractor as the 2 drivers move down the field at the same rate.
Pretty sure I would not be good at that.
Wonder if they have cruise control...
