On our way back from the boat exchange, Nicole, Sam, Isa and I stopped at this sweet little town Eastsound, Orcas Island.
It has an island, Indian Island, that is accessible during low tide, but closes off daily at high tide.
Coolest little site off the public beach in Eastsound.
The beach areas look so different than we are used to on our Ocean vacations.
Some people coming back in as the tide closes in.
Cutest little town ever. Shops, coffee, books, bakery (closed, Nicole was disappointed), pharmacy,
and a neat grocery store.
We grabbed a couple souvenirs - I had a feeling we would need to bring Mr Joe back to shop, too!
Then we headed back to the bungalow.
This was the beach area during low tide! Same area during high tide in one of the posts above.
I'm not sure of the order of the rest of these pics, just around the place we stayed.
The was the funniest (kinda mean) bird. He talked and talked and talked to us!
He really like Nicole and Isa.
There was also another Eagle that perched atop this American flag on the home
across the bay from us.
The folks that owned the unit next to us pointed it out and let us borrow their binoculars to watch him.
Someone with a really great camera could have had an iconic pic!
A view of Smugglers Cove from the boat area.
The resort had a neat pool area sheltered with these wind blocking panels.
No pics in the pool, I guess we were busy chatting!
There was time for card games, walks, exploring, pickleball, basketball, fishing, dock walking, snacking and island exploring. There was little time for electronics - time treasured!
Ready for supper in our dining room!
Smores over the grill (we found the fire pit the next night,ha)
We also snapped pictures of our location so that we could
dispute cell charges if it showed roaming into Canada.
It was neat to see how the border varies along the coastline.
Dinner the second night was a delicious grilled salmon - melt in yo' mouth!
A break from pickleball
There's that fire pit.
We had some great conversation with the kids this night - fun to let them just talk!
It was not hard to understand why Orcas is the favorite Island for Mark and Nicole's family.
We don't have another Island to compare to - but we didn't need one!
This one was perfect!
