Our family received shocking news in late October.
Our Aunt Polly had passed away at home of natural causes.
Aunt Polly was my dad's sister, one of 10 kids, 5 girls 5 boys and a twin to Polly.
Losing a loved one is so very hard, and even harder when it was not expected.
This loss has been hard for me, and I am not alone.
Polly held a very special place in our family.
I love the words that we chose to honor her.
She had so many titles that we decided on these 3 simple words to describe her
(kudos Aunt Cindy)
I was honored to gather our families' thoughts and give her eulogy.
I share this because, everyone needs and Aunt Polly
and I want to remember what she meant to our family.
Even a month later, the emotions are flooding forward as I type.
I found some treasured pictures, these are special to me.
They remind me of special times.
Aunt Polly loved being the Easter Bunny every year.
Holding Joe the first time.
Memories from cookie day
and
saving the day when we only had one paint brush,
who needs a brush when you have fingers!?!
I was honored to be along on the trip and capture memories of her first
time with toes in the ocean. Myrtle Beach, SC
I had stopped by the deliver cookie dough the week before she passed away.
I left extra time to visit that day.
I am so thankful for that.
We talked about the pandemic and the election and family and upcoming holidays and most of all faith in God and placing that at the forefront of it all.
I was able to help plan her funeral, as I left the house that morning
Polly sent me a message from heaven.
Look at this beautiful image.
I'm so thankful I had an Aunt Polly.
I count myself lucky and blessed.
