Following Thanksgiving, we had a short adult trip planned with our friends Brent and Melissa. We call it our condo owners association meeting! Our original plan was to Las Vegas for a few days- our flights and hotel had been booked, but on Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving Vegas ramped up their travel and strip restrictions. Masks were required everywhere and visitors we not allowed in and out of hotels they were not visiting and encouraged to stay in their rooms. We were able to cancel our rooms for full refund and postpone our flights, but we still were hoping for a trip. Brent happened on a hotel near Miami FL - a couple phone calls later we were booked to go!
An early morning direct flight from Indy to Fort Lauderdale - we grabbed some lunch
at the food court in the hotel and were poolside by afternoon at the Hard Rock Hotel - Hollywood, FL.
Our trip was short and sweet but this resort made maximum use of our relaxation time!
The hotel is located about 20 minutes from Miami and inland from Fort Lauderdale,
but is so well appointed, it's felt like we were right in the middle of it all.
When we checked in the clerk allowed us to upgrade the stay in the guitar tower for a small upgrade, yes please. We thought the rooms were super nice - those silver panels slid on tracks to make the bathroom vanity open/closed to the room.
The hotel had a rock theme with neat rock memorabilia throughout the hotel, restaurant and on site casino. The view from our hotel room. We loved it.
We didn't waste anytime getting poolside. I brought a book for the trip and I carried
it downstairs every time we were poolside, but girlfriend time is good for the soul. I didn't read my book at all. Thanks Melissa!
We cleaned up and headed down a delicious Italian meal where our waiter told us
he had mistaken our friend Brent for Jeff Besos. We had so much fun with that the rest
of the trip.
Homer Simpson craps was fun for Brent and Dan - at least that is what we called it. The machine made a funny noise as it shook the dice. It reminded us of the Simpsons, ha.
Due to covid no live poker tables or craps tables,
they found great humor and some "trying to beat the house odds" fun at Homer Simpsons craps.
Since our trip was almost cancelled all together, we might have been satisfied with Day 1, we still had a couple more days in store!
