HHescape 18 || Chattanooga-Ruby Falls

We set out on Friday of our planned summer trip with family to Hilton Head - we
decided to stay 1/2 way on the way down and explore Chattanooga.

Our first glimpse of the mountains about an hour before we reached our destination.
Who doesn't love the mountains?   Being on top and looking down and being on the bottom and looking up.  Both can make you feel so small and in awe of God's masterpieces!

We saw these faces lit by PS4 a part of our trip down.  It was a very rare treat for them
and we found that they played it less than they planned.  Win/win

We all agreed easily on Cracker Barrell for lunch.  We LOVE that place when we travel, only time we eat there.  And I should mention that it was Lima Bean day.  That is all I needed to hear!
Their Lima Beans are to die for -  I used both of my sides for a double portion!

We made our way up the mountain and found our first stop - Ruby Falls

We bought our tickets on the way down to reserve our time to prevent waiting but I was off by an hour on my estimation.  They were nice and let us change our reservation!

We climbed a lookout tower and loved the view.  We could see for miles. We picked up schools and pools and the boats in the river below!

Our time for the tour was up - it was a welcome cool temp in the cave as it was HOT outside!
The tour was 1&1/2 hours and I'm glad the stories about the Taiwan rescue was after our trek thru here!

This cave tour far exceeded other smaller southern IN caves we've been thru.
We saw so many interesting formations and the stories about how they discovered
the falls after crawling on their bellies for 17 hours - uh no way!
It was a little short for the tallest one in our group
and there were a lot of tours going thru the cave.

But, when the narrow passage ways open up into this pitch black room
and they illuminate Ruby Falls and the water is evident - wow!  It was VERY worth it.
The time in this room is fairly short to accommodate other coming thru but we were able to snap a few pics and then just enjoy the sites!

Loved our visit to Ruby Falls - would recommend it for sure!
