We have fierce competition in Southern Indiana where basketball is concerned.
There isn't much that can describe it except Hoosier Hysteria.
Our Lion team got a new boost this year with a new head coach.
He has brought life, heart, and passion back to the program
and this was evident all.season.long.
This team performed to the best of their abilities this season
and gave the community more to cheer about.
They beat their rivals Barr Reeve and North Daviess and clenched the Blue Chip Title!
Senior night was capped with an epic shot from senior manager Wyatt Street.
Wyatt had enough practices to dress for the game but had mainly been a manager all season.
The game was tight but the Lions pulled away just in time to get Wyatt in the game -
and he drained a last second three.
It was a true "Rudy" moment.
Joe kept up his shaved head for Boys Sectional Week
And that does not disappoint at Jack Butcher Arena.
Standing Room Only. Jack himself even came to the Barr Reeve Loogootee game.
Many said the atmosphere could not be rivaled
but I remember the Hatchet House in the 80s and 90s!
The success of older school mates sure does encourage the younger ones
to develop their game at home in the driveway. Most every night the boys
are in the drive way for one v. one (as they call it)
Stopped by mom's work so she could paint up his head - I had to UBER to the game
with my coworker because there was no parking left
We lost to the Barr Reeve Vikings on Friday night of Sectional - the Lions
came back from a big deficit to within three and had their chances but
lost to our #1 ranked neighbors. It was a great game.
Shoals gave them a run but the Vikings won on Saturday night, too.
So much to look forward to in 2020-2021.
Loogootee Basketball gave us 'all the feels' this year.
