Today was about good news.
When I was 14, I began having a lot of stomach issues.
When I was 14, I began having a lot of stomach issues.
It lead to taking my appendix out in an emergency surgery,
but that didn't fix it. And a few monts later I was a the GI specialist.
I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at around 15 years old.
I struggled with its effects for several years but was able to manage,
that is with the help of my mama and a lot of meds
- like 36 pills a day at one time.
{Pretty sure that is what landed me handing out those pills on a daily basis like I do now,
I must have had a facination with those pesky boogers}
But, as maturity {lack of} would have it, I was a college age girl
studying for pharmacy school and having fun in my sorority.
Couple this with the loss of my mother to cancer.
I became a really non-compliant patient...
and landed in the operating room again. This time to fix my colon.
And that is what they did. The odds were stacked against me.
The chance for recurrence of Crohn's after colon resection is very high,
but to be quite honest I have not had any trouble. {at least the kind I was dealing with then}
And since I haven't had any tremendous trouble, moved away from my MD,
and have celebrated some major life milestons...
I haven't seen anyone for my Crohn's since I was 22. That was a few years ago...

I established with a new GI doc (he is awesome, son to my original GI doc from 1991) in November and he has been running a couple of tests.
Today I went back for my follow up and the news was good.
Consistent with Crohn's - althought not glaringly active - and this means no supressive meds.
At my previous visit, he mentioned the need
for some high potent injectible suppressive therapy if my tests showed I needed these.
I chose not to tell anyone about that, maybe b/c I really didn't want to take these meds.
I prayed a lot. And God prevailed!
So I celebrated with my little men. We went to Barnes and Noble to get
Beth Moore's New Book
I love that store. Could get in some serious trouble if we lived close.
Then grabbed some supplies to make Sam's Valentines for preschool.
We will be using these...

Back home making supper for DH and planning our evening craft.
Happy Birthday to my maid of honor, Lorie. Love you KY gal!
