Robotics - Judges Award!

We competed in our first regional robotics competition a couple of Saturdays ago.
Our team is full of new 5th grade kids and 2 newbie mentor so we had no idea
what to expect. We prepared the best we knew how and then encouraged
the kids to do their very best.
They had 3 areas to present to judges and their robot competition.
Their first presentation was robot design, then their project which centered around solving lack of air (o2) in space, and then their team core values.
It was excellent for them to present to the judges and do it all on their own.
A judge stopped us mid day and was very impressed with the kids and how they presented!

Nerves were out of the way after the first presentation - thumbs up

They got 3 rounds and their best round score counted.

Learning from the judge

We decided if this group stays together we should call them
"Ladies and Joe" - they have been a fun group.
And at the end of the competition everyone was very happy with our first experience.

And little did we know, the judges were also very impressed! As they began the awards
they called the Little Lion Robotics team for Judges Award!

And then we got the call that our scores qualified us for state competition this Saturday -
wow what an honor - proud of this group and all they have learned!
